"To be, or not to be: that is the question."--from 'Hamlet' by William Shakespeare
In 1958, Janet Koser and Edith Meloy, of Cherokee, attended a meeting of the Iowa Community Theater Association in Des Moines, seeking advice in starting a community theater.
More than 52 years later, Cherokee Community Theater still thrives, as an all-volunteer, self-supporting organization which produces high quality dramas, comedies and musicals on a year-round basis.
You Can't Take it With You was the first play performed by CCT, in 1959. The cast is pictured at right. (click to enlarge)
Our Mission
To entertain, enrich and inspire the Cherokee community, and the community at large, through inclusive theater arts programs and volunteerism.
