"It's the wanting to know that makes us matter."--'Arcadia' by Tom Stoppard
Generally speaking, yes! Anyone can audition for a part in a CCT production. You don't even have to be from Cherokee! We have many participants from the surrounding communities as well. However, not all directors hold auditions. Sometimes the cast is very small or age or gender specific and the director may have people in mind from the pool of active CCT performers for specific roles. The best way to be considered for a part in a CCT production is to get involved!
There is no rigidly set number of plays produced each year, but the goal is for CCT to produce a Fall and Spring play, a Summer musical and a children's production. Because CCT is a volunteer organization, the number of performances largely depends on active participation from the CCT board and the community.
The CCT board has a play selection committee. Anyone within CCT or the community at large can suggest a play to the board and it will be considered. The criteria for play selection is open, as the board believes in encouraging all types of theatrical productions. However, scripts with excessive profanity or offensive messages which would alienate the audience are generally not considered suitable for community theater. Other considerations are the expense of producing the play (extensive special effects, etc.) and whether or not a director is willing and available for the production.
A benefit to purchasing season tickets is that you can see all CCT productions annually and receive a discounted rate vs. purchasing tickets individually. You can inquire about season tickets to any board member at any CCT production or you can submit a query on our contact us page and a board member will be happy to contact you with details.
Yes! Simply visit our Attend a Show page 2-3 weeks prior to a production and fill out the reservation form. Click "submit" and it's that easy! We will send you an e-mail confirmation of your reservation within 24 hours. Note: CCT does not keep the "Attend a Show" page permanently active. We only publish the reservation page when we start taking reservations for any given show, which is approximately 3 weeks prior to the opening.
Yes! CCT is always looking for volunteers to build and strike sets, paint, work backstage and help with a variety of administrative duties. Please contact us if you are interested in getting involved!
We welcome your questions, comments and suggestions. Would you like to get involved with CCT? Please feel free to contact us.
