"A small man can be just as exhausted as a great man."--from 'Death of a Salesman' by Arthur Miller
In addition to being the CCT board president, Wayne contributes his talents in audio support, lighting and special effects to all of CCT's productions, drawing from his background in performing in live bands for many years. He has been on the board since 1997, contributing his skills to area school productions as well. Currently, a graphic artist, he enjoys riding his Harley with his wife, Mary, as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
Andy joined the board in 1993. He has been involved with all aspects of CCT, including set construction, acting, directing and working backstage. He has a B.S. degree in biology from ISU and farms land that has been in his family for nearly 100 years. He is remarried and has 5 children who are active in music and theater. Andy enjoys traveling, woodworking, photography and making people laugh.
Retired, Dave taught high school math in Cherokee for 33 years. With over a decade of involvement in CCT, he joined the board in 2007. While Dave enjoys performing and singing onstage, he has several duties behind the scenes including, backstage help, set construction, coordinating the annual season ticket membership drive, mailings, reservations and curating the prop shop. No stranger to community involvement, Dave has coached boy's tennis since 1989. With an obvious love of theater, he also enjoys music, traveling and playing tennis.
Sherry has been on the CCT board for 51 years, making her the hands-down Grand Dame of community theater in Cherokee. A retired music teacher, Sherry has dedicated her life to enriching the lives of literally thousands of young people through music and live theater. There is hardly a position nor duty that Sherry has not performed at some point during her prolific CCT career. In addition to theater, Sherry loves to dance, cook, garden, teach piano, attend church functions and participate in alumni events at Morningside College.
Joining the board in 1990, Mollie has been active in CCT for more than 20 years. With an M.A. in Theater from the University of Minnesota, her training and insights both on and offstage are value-added contributions to many CCT productions. As owner of The Book Vine, a local Cherokee bookstore and gift shop, she is able to combine her love of writing, books and her entrepreneurial spirit. Additionally, she enjoys spending time with her husband John and her 4 sons, John, James, Nicholas and Patrick.
Joining the board in 2002, Penny has logged nearly a decade of service to CCT, including having served as treasurer. An SDSU graduate, her background is in theater and education so Penny is excited to begin working with the Children's Theater production committee. Although she considers her happy family her greatest achievement, she is proud of the many fantastic shows CCT has presented and is pleased to be a part of it.
As the High School Band Director at Ridge View HIgh School in Holstein, Joe brings a lot to the table, especially during the productions of CCT's Summer musicals. Joe earned his B.S. in Music Education at Wayne State College and has been a member of the Cherokee Symphony for several years. A newer member to the board, joining in 2010, Joe is no stranger to CCT, as he appeared onstage while still in high school. With his musical background and theatrical experience he is well suited for the duties he performs for CCT.
